Homeschooling Information - Benefits of HomeschoolingAs the regular school curriculum seems to be on a continuous decline, more and more parents are starting to discover the benefits of homeschooling. Homeschooling allows children to receive one-on-one teaching, unlike traditional classrooms. But it also allows gives them a chance to find information about everything, just about anywhere they go. And although there are arguments against homeschooling based on socialization factors, children who are homeschooled are given the chance to make friends with other children that they feel close to, without any of the negative effects of socialization, such as being teased at school. Therefore, homeschooled children often have many more positive friendships than ones that could be ever be built within a classroom setting.
The benefits of receiving one-on-one attention throughout homeschooling are obvious. Instead of facing a teacher every day who has thirty or more other children in their classroom, homeschooled children face one teacher a day who only has to divide their attention among one, two, or three children. This specialized attention allows children to ask as many questions as necessary to learn new information and can give them a better sense of understanding for everything they are taught. Homeschooling also provides opportunity for learning at every turn. A trip to the park could be a field trip, where children spend hours learning about the changing colors of the leaves. And dinnertime could be a chance to learn about the family budget through grocery shopping, the importance of the food groups, and of course cooking! Other parents can of course teach their children about these things as well. But a parent who is also a teacher will always be searching for new ways to teach and will be more easily able to identify these learning opportunities and take advantage of them. Homeschooling has so many benefits for both the child and the parent. Kids will love the freedom that homeschooling gives them and surprisingly, parents will too! If you want to learn more about homeschooling and the support you can receive, why not take a look at The Homeschool Magazine. Even if you don't homeschool, it's still packed with great ideas!
